Add your rigs

Each rig runs the MiningOps agent. It reports every 15 seconds, runs the mining software you choose, and applies your tuning. Rigs only connect out to your site and their pools: nothing needs to connect to them, so they need no open ports.

You'll need

  • Your MiningOps site, set up and signed in as an admin.
  • Linux rigs: Linux with systemd and Python 3. We test on Ubuntu 24.04, and the automatic GPU driver install needs Ubuntu.
  • Windows rigs: Windows 10 or 11, and PowerShell opened as Administrator.
  • NVIDIA or AMD cards. The agent can install the driver for you on Ubuntu.
  1. Set your miner defaults

In Settings → Mining, choose the mining software, coin, pool, wallet and how workers are named. New rigs start mining with these, so you don't type them on every rig. You can change any rig's settings later from its page.

  2. Create the rig

Open Rigs, select Add rig, and give it a name, for example rig-01, and its number of GPUs. Select Create rig.

The rig's token is shown only once. If you lose it, select Replace token on the rig's page for a new one.
  3. Choose the options

    • Mining software: the miner to install if the rig has none yet.
    • Linux: tick Install the GPU driver if the rig has none on a fresh Ubuntu rig. A driver that already works is left alone.
    • Windows: tick Keep Microsoft Defender away from the miners. Defender removes most mining programs; this excludes only the miners' own folder.
  4. Run the command on the rig

Copy the command the dashboard shows and run it on the rig: on Linux as a user who can use sudo, on Windows in PowerShell opened as Administrator. It downloads the agent from your site, installs the miner, checking it against its publisher's checksum, and starts mining.

The rig appears on the dashboard within a minute. If the driver install needs a reboot, the installer says so, and mining starts by itself after it.

  5. Tune it

Select Control on the rig's page to apply a tuning profile or your own power limit, clock offsets and fan speed to every card. To give one card its own values, or to take it out of mining, use the buttons on its row in the rig's GPU table.

ASIC miners

MiningOps reads Antminer, Whatsminer, LuxOS and Braiins OS machines. It never changes anything on an ASIC. Something on the ASICs' network has to poll them:

  • The MiningOps server itself, if it's on that network: Settings → ASICs.
  • A rig on that network: give it the ASIC addresses on its page.
  • A small collector, any Linux or Windows machine there: Add rig → ASIC collector.

If a rig doesn't show up

On a Linux rig, the agent's log says what went wrong:

sudo journalctl -u miningops-agent -n 50 --no-pager

On Windows, the agent runs as the MiningOps Agent task in Task Scheduler. Its log, in PowerShell:

Get-Content C:\ProgramData\MiningOps\logs\agent.log -Tail 50
